Manaras BOARD 070 Control Board & Internet Control

Every current Manaras operator thinks with the same brain: the ECB BOARD 070. Knowing what the board does, and what its diagnostic LEDs are trying to tell you, turns half of all “mystery” operator faults into five-minute reads. And since the board is also where the MIC smartphone control plugs into the system, the two belong on one page.

What the BOARD 070 Does

A factory-programmed microprocessor with separated power and control boards (linked by a one-way quick-connect socket, so field replacement is clean), non-volatile memory that survives power loss, and an on-board rolling-code radio receiver with 1 or 3-channel modes. The protective logic is the interesting part:

  • Monitored protection input for primary entrapment devices per ANSI/CAN/UL 325:2017, the photo eyes, curtains and edges report here.
  • Reverse wiring detection stops the door if travel direction and limit settings disagree, catches miswired installs before they wreck anything.
  • Centrifugal switch detection confirms the motor has fully stopped before reversing; delay-on-reverse adds a 1.5 s pause that extends door and operator life.
  • Door lock sensor detects every engaged door lock and releases tension on it, and, with a properly adjusted clutch, can also flag an unbalanced door or a broken spring.
  • Advance close system (patented) sets the point where entrapment detection is disabled just before the floor; programmable maximum run timer, timer-to-close, and mid-stop.
  • On-board open/close/stop test buttons, a rotary mode dial, plug-in sockets for limits and radio, informative diagnostic LEDs, a 2 A-fused 24 V supply for accessories, and industrial heavy-duty relays throughout.

The board ships in two trims: 070M (monitored, current standard) and 070E; several accessories are trim-specific, which is why our accessory pages name the board each device pairs with.

Manaras Internet Control (MIC): The Door on Your Phone

The MIC001 device plus the free iOS/Android app puts open/close control, real-time open/closed push alerts, and per-user access sharing (temporary or permanent) on a smartphone, with a warning signal and flashing light before any remote-commanded close. Requirements are specific: a 2 GHz Wi-Fi network, a monitored “M”-type operator, monitored photoelectric cells, and the ECB BOARD070M with integrated MIC Wi-Fi software. One MIC device per operator; the app monitors multiple doors on one screen.

Retro-fit kits bring existing operators aboard: MODKITMIC001A for “M”-type operators that already have monitored photo eyes, and MODKITMIC001B/C/D for older “E”-type operators, those kits bundle the MIC, the BOARD070M, and monitored photo eyes (Nema 1 PHOTO070 or Nema 4X PHOTO061 depending on kit). In practice: almost any serviceable Manaras operator in a building can be upgraded to smartphone control, because the kit carries the compliance hardware with it.

When Boards Actually Fail (and When They Haven’t)

Genuine board failures happen, voltage spikes take out boards despite the built-in transient protection, which is why the power/control separation exists. But most “bad board” calls are the board correctly refusing to run: a monitored device fault (door won’t close), reverse wiring detection (new install, door stops), an engaged interlock, or a tripped fuse on the 24 V accessory circuit. The diagnostic LEDs distinguish these states. One point that causes repeated confusion: on a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed safety device makes the operator refuse to close. That is correct behaviour, not a malfunction. A door that suddenly will not close, with no other symptom, is very often a photo eye or sensing edge that has failed or drifted out of alignment.
