Insulated Commercial Garage Doors — Vancouver & Richmond
An uninsulated steel door on a heated shop is a large, flat, poorly-sealed gap in the building envelope. During a Lower Mainland winter, the heat loss through a single-layer door on a busy service bay shows up clearly on the heating bill. Insulated doors — either urethane-injected or sandwich-panel construction — reduce that loss substantially and make the bay more comfortable for staff working near the opening.
For food processing facilities, cold storage, and pharmaceutical warehouses, insulation and sealing are operational requirements, not just comfort items. We install urethane-injected doors with R-values up to 16.2 for these applications, matching door, hardware, and seal profile to the specific temperature separation requirement of the space.
Urethane-Injected Doors
The Hörmann 425U, 440U, and 450U series use urethane foam injected directly between the steel panel skins, bonding to both surfaces and creating a rigid, high-R-value section. The 450U reaches R-16.2. These doors are common on newer commercial builds in Metro Vancouver where energy performance matters to the developer or tenant. We install and service all three models.
Sandwich Panel Doors
The 324S through 354S sandwich series uses a rigid insulation core between steel skins, offering good thermal performance at a lower price point than full urethane injection. Common on warehouses, service buildings, and industrial units where insulation matters but the highest R-value is not required. We install and service the full Hörmann sandwich range.
