How to Use This Guide

You have a Manaras commercial operator that needs a part. The operator model is on the nameplate — usually on the motor housing or the control box cover. Write it down. Every part listed below ties back to a specific operator series. If the model is not legible, photograph the entire unit, including the control board, and send it to your supplier. Guessing costs time and money.

Control Boards — ECB BOARD 070

The ECB BOARD 070 is the current-generation electronic control board for Manaras-Opera commercial operators. It replaces earlier board revisions and carries the logic for all safety, timing, and accessory functions.

What the board does

Factory-programmed microprocessor with non-volatile memory — programming survives power loss
Separate power and control boards linked by a one-way quick-connect socket for field maintenance
Centrifugal switch circuit confirms the motor has stopped before allowing a reverse command

Identifying the correct board

The BOARD 070 fits Manaras OMH, OMJ, OPH, OPJ, OTH, OTBH, MSJ, and OSH series operators. Older operators using the ECB 050 or ECB 060 boards may require a harness adapter or full control box retrofit. Check the operator series before ordering.

Monitored Photoelectric Cells — PHOTO070

The PHOTO070 is the monitored thru-beam photo eye set designed for the BOARD 070M control board. It meets ANSI/CAN/UL 325:2017 requirements for primary external entrapment protection.

Compatibility note

PHOTO070 connects directly to the BOARD 070M monitored input terminals. If your operator runs an older board without monitored inputs, you need the interface module or a board upgrade. Do not wire monitored eyes to non-monitored terminals — the operator will not recognize the safety circuit.

Push-Button Control Station — STATION 020

The STATION 020 is a three-button surface-mount control station (open, close, stop) with a steel NEMA 1 enclosure.

Accessories You May Need

Single-channel transmitter — Sold separately. Works with the BOARD 070 on-board receiver in 1-channel mode for simple open/close. Can also function as a Single Button Control (SBC) in commercial applications.

3-channel transmitter — Required if you use the receiver in 3-channel mode (open, close, stop from the remote).

Interface module — Allows PHOTO070 monitored eyes to work with older non-monitored control boards. Mounts inside the control box.

Advance close module — Factory-enabled on BOARD 070; no separate part needed. The advance close set point is programmed through the rotary dial.

Replacement cable sets — PHOTO070 ships with 30 ft cable. Longer runs require Manaras-approved extension cable — standard low-voltage wire introduces capacitance that corrupts the monitored signal.

What Fails Most Often

1. Photo eyes — Misalignment, lens damage, water ingress, or cable cuts from door movement. The monitored circuit means a single broken conductor stops the door.

2. Control board fuses — The 2 A fuse blows when a 24 V accessory shorts. Check photo eye wiring, radio receiver, and any add-on devices before replacing the fuse.

3. Push-button station contacts — Stop button (NC contact) fails closed or open. Door will not run or will not stop. Test with a multimeter before replacing the board.

4. Radio receiver — On-board receiver fails after nearby lightning or power surge. The BOARD 070 has spike protection, but a direct hit on the antenna wire bypasses it.

5. Limit switch assembly — Not a board component. Mechanical limits on the operator shaft wear or shift. If the door over-travels or stops short, check the limit cams before blaming the board.

1. Confirm the operator model from the nameplate.

2. Identify the control board revision (BOARD 070, 070M, or earlier).

3. Match the part to the table above.

4. If the part number is not on the component, photograph it with a scale (tape measure in frame) and send it to your supplier.

When to Call a Technician

Control board replacement requires reprogramming limits, timer-to-close, mid-stop, and advance close set points. The rotary dial makes this faster than old dip-switch boards, but the sequence matters.
Monitored photo eye installation requires wiring to the correct BOARD 070M terminals and verifying the monitoring handshake. A non-monitored eye on a monitored terminal will fault the operator.
Door lock sensor and clutch adjustment interact. Replacing the board without verifying clutch setting can mask a broken spring or unbalanced door.

If you are not comfortable with 24 V control circuits and the UL 325 entrapment protection requirements, have a commercial door technician do the work. The safety system protects people — not just the door.
