GDI Operators We Install and Service

Why an Authorized GDI Dealer Matters for Repairs
Are GDI’s operators different to work on than LiftMaster or Manaras?
GDI’s line runs on brushless direct-drive motors with electronic, non-mechanical limit setting and closed-loop control (AlgorithmDrive™) rather than the mechanical limit switches common on older commercial operators. Diagnosing a GDI unit means reading its onboard diagnostics and electronic position data correctly, not just checking a physical limit switch — which is why we approach GDI service as its own system, not a generic commercial-operator call.
What’s covered under GDI’s cold-weather and washdown ratings?
Every GDI line we install is rated to -40°C, and the JDMG and HAML are built sealed for washdown environments like car washes and cold storage. If a GDI operator is faulting in cold or wet conditions, we check the sealed control module and enclosure integrity first — those environments are exactly what the equipment is rated for, so a failure there usually points to a specific fault rather than the operator being under-spec’d for the job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install new GDI operators, or only repair existing ones?
Both — as an authorized GDI dealer we install new JDMG, JHMG, HAML, GLWD, and SGWD units and service existing installations.
Can GDI operators be networked together across multiple doors or gates?
Yes, GDI’s NetworkPower™ system links and monitors up to 128 operators from a central point, which several of our commercial and parkade clients use for multi-door sites. We set this up as part of installation or can add it to an existing GDI installation.
Do GDI operators have battery backup for power outages?
Most GDI lines offer 36 VDC battery backup providing roughly 50–200 cycles depending on door or gate weight, with automatic recharging. We confirm exact backup runtime for your specific door during installation or service.
Which GDI operator is right for a barrier gate versus a sliding gate?
The GLWD is GDI’s barrier gate arm operator, built for parking and access-control applications; the SGWD is their sliding gate operator for heavier gates up to 8,500 lbs. We assess your gate type and traffic volume on-site before recommending which line fits.
