Manaras Opera-J Commercial Jackshaft Operator
The Opera-J — model code OPJ — is Manaras’s heavy-duty commercial jackshaft operator with a floor-level disconnect. It is rated for 25 cycles per hour and 100 cycles per day, which places it above the medium-duty Opera-MJ and below the industrial solenoid-brake machines in the same family.
The floor-level disconnect is the feature people actually buy it for. When the power is out or the operator is down, staff release the door from ground level — no ladder, no lift, no waiting for a technician to get the bay open.

Manaras publishes no horsepower figure for the Opera-J. Its specification sheet states motor duty, phase and frequency only — horsepower, voltage and frequency are selected through the Operator Codes system when the unit is ordered. Any HP number quoted for an OPJ on a reseller page is unofficial, and we will not print one here.
Where the Opera-J fits against the rest of the Opera line
Use the duty rating as the first filter:
- Opera-MJ / Opera-MH (OMJ/OMH) — 14 cycles/hour, 50/day, 1/2 HP, 120 V. Medium
duty, for a door that opens a few dozen times a day.
- Opera-J / Opera-H / Opera-HJ (OPJ/OPH/OHJ) — 25/hour, 100/day. Heavy-duty
commercial. This page.
- Opera-SH (OSH) — 25/hour, more than 100/day, with a drum-band solenoid brake.
- MSJ — more than 35 cycles/hour and more than 150/day. Ultra heavy duty.
The jump from OMJ to OPJ is not marketing. A medium-duty unit on a door cycling a hundred times a day is the single most common cause of premature commercial operator failure we are called out to.
Opera-J, Opera-H or Opera-HJ?
All three are heavy-duty jackshafts at the same 25/100 duty rating. What differs is how you get the door open when the operator cannot.
- OPJ carries the floor-level disconnect.
- OPH carries Hoist-a-Matic, a self-engaging chain hoist.
- OHJ carries both — hoist and floor-level disconnect on one unit.
On a rolling grille or steel door where the imbalance is under 80 lb, the OHJ is usually the right answer, because manual egress is a code conversation as much as a convenience one. On a balanced sectional door in a warehouse, the OPJ is enough.
Key features
- Accu-cam limit system — limits hold their setting through a manual
operation or after the motor has been removed.
- Nema 1 electrical enclosure as standard, with a hinged cover that stays open
and a control box that lifts for access to the reduction sprockets and chain.
- 5L/B V-belt first stage of reduction, with further steps by chain and sprocket.
- Mounted wall, hood or shelf, on either side of the opening.
Authorized Manaras dealer in Metro Vancouver
CCGDS is an authorized Manaras dealer. On this line that matters more than usual, because Manaras does not sell a finished part number off a shelf — horsepower, voltage, frequency and enclosure are selected through the Operator Codes ordering system when the unit is built. Getting that string right the first time is the difference between a unit that drops in and one that goes back.
Manaras publishes no list pricing anywhere; every specification sheet directs the reader to inside sales. We quote from the current sheet for your opening rather than from a number found on a reseller page.
Installation, service and repair across the Lower Mainland
We install, service and repair Manaras commercial operators in Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Delta, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Langley and North Vancouver.
