Photo Eye and Safety Edge Repair Vancouver

Photo Eye & Safety Edge Repair — Vancouver

Half the door-will-not-close calls we get are a safety device, not the door or opener itself. Photo eyes knocked out of alignment after someone swept near the tracks, a safety edge that took a hit from a vehicle bumper, or wiring that got pinched during an unrelated repair — any of these make the door refuse to close while everything else seems fine.

We diagnose the actual fault before replacing anything. A photo eye reading open could be a misaligned lens, a cut wire, a dirty lens, or a failed transmitter. We find which one. A safety edge that is not responding could be a severed lead wire, a failed pressure switch, or a pneumatic tube that lost its seal. We trace the circuit before swapping parts.

Safety edge replacements are also common on commercial doors that see regular vehicle traffic close to the bottom of the door. A pneumatic safety edge that has been compressed repeatedly eventually loses pressure sensitivity and stops registering contact. On a commercial door, that is a safety issue that needs to be corrected.
