Manaras Rapido High-Speed Industrial Operators

The Rapido line is Manaras answering one request: the same industrial operator, but faster. Every Rapido model runs a speed managing device (a variable frequency drive on the RMSJ) that delivers up to 2X the opening speed of the equivalent standard operator while managing soft-starts and soft-stops, so the extra speed does not come at the cost of slamming the door system around. All are single-phase input power with switchless motors, and all carry the monitored control circuit, on-board rolling-code radio receiver, Accu-cam one-hand limit setting and a non-resettable 6-digit cycle counter.

The Five Rapido Models

Model Type Designed for
Rapido RGH Gearhead jackshaft, 20:1 or 44:1 worm gear in oil bath, 1 HP Counterbalanced sectional, rolling doors and grilles
Rapido RSH V-belt drive jackshaft, output 94 rpm Standard, high and vertical lift sectional doors to 750 lbs
Rapido RMSJ Ultra heavy-duty V-belt hoist with variable frequency drive, 1 HP, output 97/65 rpm Large counterbalanced sectional doors
Rapido RTBH Trolley operator, 23″/sec opening / 15″/sec closing Fast standard lift sectional doors to 30 ft with extended track
Rapido RVH V-belt jackshaft, opening up to 30″/sec Vinyl rolling doors and rolling bug screens

Where High Speed Pays For Itself

Speed on a commercial door is not a vanity spec. Every second a loading dock door stands open in January is conditioned air pouring out; every second a parkade grille takes to open is a car idling on the ramp. High-cycle, high-traffic openings, distribution docks, parkades, car washes, drive-through lanes, are where a Rapido earns its premium over the standard OGH, OSH, MSJ or OTH equivalents. The RVH exists specifically for high-speed vinyl roll-up doors, which have their own drive requirements (#41 or #50 chain selected for optimized opening time).

Specification Highlights (Common to the Line)

Item Detail
Electrical supply Single-phase powered operator, switchless motor
Speed management Soft-start / soft-stop speed managing device (VFD on RMSJ)
Brake Electrically activated drum-band solenoid brake
Manual operation Emergency chain hoist with electrical cut-out interlock (quick-release arm on RTBH)
Limits Rotary cam limits with Accu-cam one-hand adjustment; stays in time through manual operation
Control Monitored control circuit, on-board control board and radio receiver
Enclosure Nema 1, hinged cover

What Fails on These Units

The speed managing electronics add one more thing to diagnose beyond a standard operator, and a fault there can masquerade as a motor problem, the door runs, but at reduced speed or with harsh starts. On belt-drive models (RSH, RMSJ, RVH) belt tension and the friction clutch are routine adjustment points; the RGH’s worm gear reducer runs in an oil bath that should be checked at service intervals. On the RTBH, add trolley track alignment. And because a high-speed door completes far more cycles between visits, the maintenance clock genuinely runs faster, the built-in cycle counter is there for exactly that reason. Read it and log it at every service.

Choosing Between Models

If you are unsure which unit you have, the model code is on the data plate on the operator housing. Note the voltage and phase while you are there, and roughly how many cycles a day the door runs, those three facts decide most of what we would bring to a call.

Parts and Accessories

The full Manaras accessory range pairs with the Rapido line: monitored photo eyes, light curtains and sensing edges, radio controls, control stations and traffic lights. One point that causes repeated confusion: on a UL 325 monitored circuit, a failed safety device makes the operator refuse to close. That is correct behaviour, not a malfunction. A door that suddenly will not close, with no other symptom, is very often a photo eye or sensing edge that has failed or drifted out of alignment.
