Manaras Internet Control Setup for Commercial Doors

The Manaras Internet Control (MIC) system lets you open, close, and monitor a commercial overhead door from a phone — iOS or Android — provided the operator is a monitored “M” type and the site has a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal at the operator. The MIC app is free; the hardware is a MIC001 device paired with an ECB BOARD070M control board that runs Manaras Wi-Fi compatibility software.

What the system actually does

One MIC device pairs with one operator. The app can monitor multiple doors across a facility or multiple sites under one login. You get push notifications when a door opens or closes, a safety warning signal and flashing light before the door starts to close, and the ability to grant temporary or permanent access to other users without handing out physical remotes. The operator still requires monitored photoelectric cells — the MIC does not replace them.

Hardware requirements

  • Monitored “M” type Manaras operator (factory-equipped with ECB BOARD070M or upgraded to it)
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network reaching the operator location
  • Monitored photoelectric cells (PHOTO070 NEMA 1 or PHOTO061 NEMA 4X depending on environment)
  • Smart device running iOS or Android with the MIC app installed

If the operator is an “E” type, it cannot run MIC without a retrofit kit that swaps the control board and adds monitored photo eyes.

Retrofit kits for existing operators

Manaras offers three field-install kits. All include the MIC001 device and an ECB BOARD070M with integrated Wi-Fi software.

MODKITMIC001A — For in-field “M” type operators that already have monitored photoelectric cells. This is the simplest retrofit: swap the board, mount the MIC device, pair to Wi-Fi.

MODKITMIC001B — For in-field “E” type operators. Includes MIC001, ECB BOARD070M, and NEMA 1 monitored photoelectric cells (PHOTO070). Use where the environment is dry and indoor.

MODKITMIC001C — For in-field “E” type operators in wet, washdown, or corrosive environments. Includes MIC001, ECB BOARD070M, and NEMA 4X monitored photoelectric cells (PHOTO061). Cold storage, food processing, and exterior loading docks typically need this version.

Installation sequence

1. Verify the operator model and confirm it is an “M” or “E” type Manaras unit.

2. Confirm 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal strength at the operator mounting location. A phone showing two bars at the operator is usually sufficient; if the signal is weak, relocate the router or add an access point before scheduling.

3. For “E” type operators, select the correct kit (B or C) based on the photo-eye environment rating.

4. Power down the operator. Swap the control board for the ECB BOARD070M. Install or replace photoelectric cells as the kit requires.

5. Mount the MIC001 device per the wiring diagram. Restore power.

6. Pair the MIC device to the Wi-Fi network using the app. The app walks through SSID selection and password entry.

7. Test open, close, and notification functions. Add secondary users if needed.

Common failure points

  • 5 GHz only networks — The MIC device will not connect. The site must broadcast a 2.4 GHz SSID (can be a dedicated IoT network).
  • Weak signal at the operator — Metal buildings, concrete walls, and distance kill the connection. Test before the technician arrives.
  • Unmonitored photo eyes — The system will fault if the safety circuit is not monitored. “E” type retrofits must include the photo-eye upgrade.
  • Multiple operators on one MIC — Not supported. One MIC per operator. The app handles the multi-door view.

When to call a technician

If the operator is not a Manaras “M” or “E” type, MIC is not compatible. If the control board is damaged or the operator is over 15 years old, a full operator replacement with a factory-equipped “M” type unit is usually the better spend.
